Hi all,

In preparation for this weekend's meeting, there are a few things that
warrant individual review—so we can all start on the same page, as it
were.

Although it hasn't changed in a while, for reference, the agenda can
be found at <http://movementroles.wikimedia.org/wiki/Agenda_for_MR_workgroup_meeting_2011-1-29/30>.

A primary focus, and the one that needs immediate feedback, is on the
tough topics, being compiled at
<http://movementroles.wikimedia.org/wiki/Tough_Topics>. Please add to
that page as you see fit; I imagine (hope?) it will be frequently
edited up to (and probably throughout) the meeting.

If you need reading material on the journey to Frankfurt, there were
some great interviews conducted over the past few months:

* Targeted interviews about our initial questions
<http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Movement_roles_project/Initial_Questions>
are collected at <http://movementroles.wikimedia.org/wiki/Interviews>,
along with a couple of self-completed responses at
<http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Movement_roles_project/Initial_Questions/Responses>.

* Jon interviewed representatives of a few organizations thought to
have some insight
<http://movementroles.wikimedia.org/wiki/Peer_organizations>, and his
bullet points are a concise and easy read.

And finally, there's a collection of assorted background material
linked from the meta page
<http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Movement_roles_project> as well as the
index page on the movement roles wiki
<http://movementroles.wikimedia.org/wiki/Index>.

Looking forward to seeing everyone this weekend,

Austin

Thanks Austin, I have printed most of the information we have to read during
my flight. And apparently I'll be comfy to do so, as Iberia has offered to
change me to Business class for free. I'm in the VIP zone at Ezeiza airport
right now, indeed xD.

Based on what we discussed on one of our last IRC meetings I decided to
contact Joan Gomà (Amical), Jorge Sierra (WMES) and Gustavo Gòngora (member
of both) to ask them a series of problem-focused questions. I know that we
look for general approaches and solutions and we don't want to be hours and
hours discussing the Catalans, but their case is IMO actually *the* case and
touches a wide arrange of topics, including chapter legitimacy and what to
do with that organizations that are not chapters but develop typical chapter
tasks and activities, so I thought that having a more not only punctual but
concrete insight wouldn't hurt.

I'm still awaiting for Jorge's reply but I do know from WMES' VP that they
are interested in having their opinion heard. Gustavo replied by mail and
I'm taking his reply to Frankfurt in paper. And Joan did so in Meta, so it
would be great if you could read it as extra prep material:
http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Movement_roles_project/Questions_about_chapters_whose_territory_doesn%E2%80%99t_match_a_state.
My original questions are there in Spanish and he did sort of a free English
translation, so in case of doubt please refer to Google Translate or ask me
in person ;).

Best,
galio

PS: I'm sure that my English is especially horrible this time. Sorry for the
inconvenience :P.

A good omen, surely. Have you arrived already? I am in room 354.

I hope to see everyone tonight.
